Credit Suisse Supports the Georg Baselitz Exhibition

At the Museo d'Arte Moderna in Lugano from May 6 to September 23.

Lugano, May 4, 2007 In keeping with established tradition, Credit Suisse will once again be supporting the Museo d'Arte Moderna of the City of Lugano this year as a sponsor of the major retrospective dedicated to the famous German artist Georg Baselitz.

Credit Suisse first supported an exhibition at the Museo d'Arte Moderna in Lugano back in 1992. Since then, the works of numerous world-renowned painters and sculptors have adorned the museum itself or the streets of the city of Lugano, always meeting with the approval of the public and the critics. Over the past 16 years, Credit Suisse has stayed faithful to the museum, renewing its commitment year after year, and over time its initial sponsorship activity has evolved into a true partnership success story.

Cultural sponsorship is of prime importance in the communication strategy of Credit Suisse and is an integral part of its corporate philosophy. Within the immense, multifaceted world of culture, the bank has decided to focus on fine art, classical music and jazz, and works together with prestigious cultural institutions. Across the country, important pillars of the cultural commitment of Credit Suisse include support for the exhibitions at the Kunsthaus Zürich, the Kunstmuseum Basel, the Fine Arts Museum Berne, the Kunstmuseum Winterthur, the Fondation de l'Hermitage in Lausanne, the Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Martigny and the Museum Rietberg in Zurich, while in Ticino the choice from the outset was the Museo d'Arte Moderna of the City of Lugano. This collaboration in Lugano has proved highly rewarding for the past 15 years and has made it possible to consolidate the initiatives of the Museo d'Arte Moderna, the Cultural Activities Department and, last but not least, the city of Lugano, which is a magnet on the international art scene.

This year, the Museo d'Arte Moderna will present a retrospective dedicated to Georg Baselitz, a German artist best known for painting his subjects upside down, depicting people and objects from an unusual perspective.

Credit Suisse would like to express its sincere thanks to the City of Lugano Cultural Activities Department and to the museum staff for their skill and enthusiasm in arranging this event of great cultural significance, which is certain to draw large numbers of visitors to Lugano.
