Bruce Anderson was born in Bucks
County Pennsylvania, in 1958. Drawing since the time he was a child, Bruce
has developed his talent without formal training. He spent much of the 80’ s
and 90’s working with the homeless in Uptown Chicago, while contributing
design work to various counter culture endeavors. After leaving Chicago,
Bruce began experimenting with found objects as the foundation of his work.
Ironing boards and other recycled materials became a passion. His work runs
the gamut from neo-religious iconic structures to pop culture, and
historical / political icons. Bruce Anderson has been a resident of Columbia
County, New York since the late 90’s and his work has appeared in various
shows and galleries throughout Columbia and Greene Counties; including The
Columbia County Council on the Arts, The Greene County Arts and Crafts
Guild, The Hudson Arts Walk, Clear Channel Communications Art in the Park,
and at The Carrie Hadad Gallery in a visionary / outsider art show.
Recently, his work appeared at the Chicago Intuit Show. The spiritual,
political, and thought provoking themes juxtaposed with found objects have
provoked both controversy, and enthusiastic support within the community.
