For sale our jewels
reappeared after 360 years of oblivion
in two great italian Houses of the Medici of Ottaviano and the Gaetanis Aragona.

These are two pictures in couple contrast, never met and no repetable, made by two great painters.
Probably they both are the best works by Brouwer and by Teniers. Brouwer understood how to adapt his painting to a sudden demand of a change, remaining high in his top quality. Teniers had to change his stile to result winning against the environment and the Brouwer's philosophy. "Two unicum in their life", of great historical artistic importance too.

University of Milan, Faculty of Applied Physics - october 2004 - Prof Dr Luca Poldi praises the great quality of the paintings. He recognizes the brushstroke of Adriaen Brouwer. He discovers the "pentimenti"(7), he underlines the sigle(4s) and shows the personal brushstrokes of the four painters.
Reflectography - Brouwer    Reflectography - David Teniers

Dr. Jane P. Davidson,-- Professor of Art History at the University of Reno- Nevada USA -specialist in David Teniers,- and in particular in dating the painting style in the course of Teniers life,-- located 1985 our painting by Teniers to around 1648.

Von Bode 1924 = "In any case a good Adriean Brouwer picture today belongs to the most sought-after paintings of the Dutch school on the art market."

In the Teniers, the part of Ryckhals consists in 5 pieces of still-life on the ground. In the Brouwer, the part of Craesbeck consists in the two busts, arms and faces (various brushstrokes are seen also effected by Brouwer for correction) in the couple in the foreground, the face of the woman that leans out of the little strange window, and two rags whites.

A lot of rough drafts / adaptations of these original pictures are exhibit in Museums and prived collections as "originals."

Origin = For it inherits in the House Medici of Ottaviano in Naples from 1648 up to 1850 and, for connection of marriage, in the House Gaetani-Aragona in Naples. Here she remains for five generations of Colonels of the House and hundred years. Then, for heredity', it reached the actual owner.
